Finding Fresh Food

Hey Foodies!

May is fast approaching…how are you? How are you getting your favorite food fix? We’ve doing a lot of cooking at home (obviously) but have also enjoyed getting take out from some of our favorite restaurants.

In our search for delicious food, we’ve discovered that not only are we in a wonderfully diverse restaurant area, but we also have tons of options when it comes to buying fresh food for our own recipes.  This has been crucial, especially now, when national brand (aka “big box”) grocery stores are struggling to fill their shelves.

If you’ve shopped at a farmers market, then you know there is a big difference between produce, dairy and meat that is fresh from the farm, versus ones that have sat in a truck for a while before coming to you. The flavors are more intense, the colors are brighter and the thought of supporting local businesses should send warm fuzzies coursing through your body as you prepare your meal.

The only thing better than buying local farm fresh products is growing your own. For some people with green thumbs and a love of gardening (plus the space for a garden), this is ideal. For the rest of us…well, we love eating food and are happy to leave the growing to the people who do it best!

So, check out these local farmers markets and farm stands for some fresh produce, dairy and meat and support local business. We can all use some warm fuzzies during this time!
